The Satellite Image Map of Lake Mead National Recreation Area by John C. Dohrenwend, Ph.D., was produced from data acquired by Landset 7 satellite on the mornings of October 17 and October 24, 1999. The map scale is 1:126,720, which means that one inch on the map represents an actual distance of two miles (126,720 inches) on the Earth’s surface.
